62 an hour The Position Under general supervision, the Code Compliance Assistant performs a variety of technical and office duties involving the City's code enforcement processes including parking enforcement; assists the public by telephone and at the front counter responding to code questions, complaints and/or violations; and assists the Code Compliance Officer in the research and preparation of cases.
Other duties may include responding to public complaints, field investigations, preparation of administrative and legal documentation for compliance, inspections and public education, as directed.

Representative Duties The following duties are typical for this classification.
Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
Receive and respond to public complaints in coordination with the Code Compliance Officer in person, by mail, telephone, etc.
; Appropriately log complaints; Establish and track case files in the enterprise permitting and licensing system; Document and track complaints and prepare/mail violation notices; Provide information regarding various code violations and related issues to the public, property or business owners, tenants, and/or complainants at the counter, in the field, electronically, or by telephone; Work consistently with the Public Services Division to monitor and remove non-permitted and illegal signs; Interpret and explain municipal codes, ordinances and other regulations to the public either in person or over the telephone; Perform visual inspections to determine whether or not there are violations of the Santee Municipal Code; Issue notices of violations in the field or via mail to violators; Perform general record keeping and prepare statistical reports; Provide testimony in court and at nuisance abatement hearings as required; Perform routine clerical duties such as typing, filing, record keeping, data entry, and receptionist duties coordinating with clerical staff; and Perform other duties as assigned.

gov Minimum Qualifications Any combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this classification.
An example would be:
Education:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and two (2) years of college course work from an accredited community college in code enforcement, building inspection, urban planning, or related discipline is desirable; AND
Experience:
One (1) year (full-time equivalent) of professional experience involving customer service experience or a related field.
Experience in code enforcement, law enforcement, investigations, inspections, or enforcement of established standards is desirable.
NOTE:
Qualifying experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Possession of or ability to obtain, a valid Class C California driver's license at time of appointment.
A safe driving record is required and must be maintained during time of employment.
Background Investigation The applicant selected will be subject to a criminal history investigation through the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and a thorough background check.
A waiver for reference and background information must be completed.
City of Santee employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109).
Employment with the City requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect.
Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
